Wadi Degla Reserve in Egypt. It is located in the Governorate of Cairo Governorate in the northern part of the country, 14 km southeast of Cairo, the capital. Wadi Degla is part of the watershed of the Nile River.

Wadi Degla in Cairo Governorate has been considered a natural reserve since 1999, with a total area of ​​about 60 km2.
Wadi Degla is located to the east of the Maadi neighborhood in the eastern desert of Cairo governorate and is considered one of the important valleys that extend from east to west with a length of about 30 km. It passes through limestone rocks that were deposited in the marine environment in the Eastern Desert (60 million years ago), so it is rich in fossils.
The climate is hot and the average temperature is 26 degrees Celsius. The warmest month is July at 35 degrees Celsius, and the coldest January at 15 degrees Celsius. The average precipitation is 41 mm per year. The wettest month is January, with an average of 14 mm of rain, while April is the wettest month with an average of 1 mm
The Tigris Valley is located between latitudes 56, 29 north 24 and 31 east, and it is about 30 km long and extends from east to west.
The Tigris Valley begins in the form of small tributaries that pour rainwater into the surrounding hills. The natural Tigris Valley is located in Cairo
The valley is surrounded by limestone formations of the Eocene period, which was rich in fossils, and its height on both sides of the valley is about 50 meters.

Valley's natural resources

The general view of the valley is rich in flora and fauna.
The valley is covered with a protective cover of annual and perennial plants, and about 64 species of plants have been recorded.
Recently, traces of the fossil deer were recorded in the area, which gives evidence of the existence of the Nubian Tetel. About twenty species of reptiles have been recorded, including the endangered Egyptian turtle.
It recorded 12 species of eastern desert birds, in addition to migratory and visiting species in winter and resident and visiting in summer.
