Samadai (Dolphin House )Marsa Alam


The Samadai Reserve or as it is also called the House of Dolphins Reserve. The Samadai Reef region is located about 2 km south of the city of Marsa Alam, 7 km from the beach. It is a part of the submerged coral reefs. The Samadai area is located outside the borders of the nature reserves. They live in many oceans worldwide and dolphins usually swim in groups of hundreds and sometimes thousands of dolphins.
Characteristics and importance of the reserve
After a few months of activating the management plan and daily environmental monitoring, a significant increase in the number of dolphins in the Samadai. Samab region was recorded, and the Red Sea Reserves Department also carried out studies that confirmed that large numbers of dolphins known as the rolling dolphin come daily in large numbers to the Samadai reef area for convenience.
The EEAA also made several efforts to preserve the region, including dolphins, coral reefs, and marine organisms, and the possibility of declaring the Samadai area as a nature reserve is being studied, and this will be done through the expansion of the marine part of the Wadi El Gamal Reserve.
The Samadai reef region with floating signs was divided into 4 regions (A, B, C, D).

    Zone (A): A zone designated for the convenience of dolphins, completely closed to all activities.
    Area (B): It is a region where only swimming is allowed and no other activities are allowed.
    Area (C): It is an area designated for waiting for tourist launches.
    Zone (D): It is the outer region in which all activities are permitted.

A catalog of dolphins in the Samadai protected area called "Dolphin House" in the Red Sea has also been prepared. The catalog of dolphins includes the family of each dolphin and information about it, pictures of each dolphin, its type, length and weight, in addition to the distinctive signs in its body and monitoring the changes that occur to His behavior while in the reserve.
