Soma Bay - Safaga


Soma Bay (Soma Bay) is an Egyptian bay and a tourist destination on the Red Sea at the head of Abu Soma and along the bay. It is located about 50 kilometers south of Hurghada and about 15 kilometers north of Safaga, and it belongs to the Safaga district in the Red Sea Governorate.

There are several hotels in Soma Bay, the focus of which is the independent resort of the same name on the peninsula, which is also colloquially called Soma Bay. The Ras Abu Soma Peninsula, which has an area of ​​about ten square kilometers, is about five kilometers long and two kilometers wide. It was originally home to many rare species of birds, turtles, and more. The resort tourist offers an emphasis on diving, golf, windsurfing, kite surfing.

The close-to-shore coral reefs in the bay and coral reefs are known for their biodiversity and are regularly visited by many diving boats.

Tourism

There are several hotels in Soma Bay. The main hub is the independent resort on the Ras Abu Soma peninsula.

The resort was built in 1996 and developed by the Cairo-based Abu Soma Egyptian Development Company, and consists of five hotels designed to meet high demands. It has a marina (Tobia Marina, opened in 2010), a kite surfing station, diving centers, and a golf course.

The outer edge of the reef can be reached via a 420-meter pier that leads from the Orca Dive Club, which opened in 2007, above the surface of a reef in the southern peninsula. From there you can snorkel or dive into what's called the Reef House, for example.

In the bay and along the head there are many diving spots, such as Ras Abu Soma Park and Ras Abu Soma Park, which are regularly visited by various diving boats.
 
The peninsula can be accessed via a special road of seven kilometers from the coastal highway 24. Hurghada Airport is located 45 kilometers (about 60 kilometers or 70 minutes by road).
